ABREX 500 is a multi-use , abrasion - resistant steel at 500 HBW that combines high toughness, good bendability and good weldability, therefore this steel can be used in structures with mode rate wear. |
ABREX 500 is also known as Wear Plates which are designed to last longer than standard mild steel. The most common hardness levels in the category are 400 and 500. The combination of hardness , strength and toughness make it stand up to extreme wear. This can replace expensive wear products like high chrome white iron and hard-faced overlay plates. Even though it is too tough, it can be cut, welded, milled and drilled using standard workshop practices. |
The use of abrasion resistant ABREX steel plate markedly reduces the weight of structural members exposed to severe abrasive conditions. Very hard, Abrex steel plates that are less subject to abrasion than ordinary steel plates are widely used for conveyors, bulldozer blades, wearing parts of agricultural machines, dump truck vessels, construction equipment, hydraulics shovel and wheel loader buckets. By using abrasion-resistant steel plates ABREX 500, it is possible to not only reduce the weight and enhance the performance of the machine but also cut the running cost of the machine, including the cost of repair, replacement, etc. of parts. On the other hand, abrasion-resistant steel plates are required to have not only superior hardness but also excellent low-temperature toughness to secure sufficient reliability of steel plates in cold regions as well as good weldability and bending workability to allow for efficient fabrication work. As abrasion-resistant steel plates that meet the above requirements, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation has newly added the ABREX™ (abrasion Resistance excellent) series to the conventional abrasion-resistant steel plates, WEL-HARD, WELTEN™AR, and SUMIHARD. According to hardness, ABREX is divided into four standard types as ABREX 400, ABREX 450, ABREX 500 & ABREX 600 and three extra-tough types as ABREX 400LT, ABREX 450LT & ABREX 500LT.
