CORTEN B is weathering steel with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance. Due to its chemical composition, this material develops a patina with increased resistance against the atmospheric corrosion in comparison with non-alloyed steels. Due to its restricted chemical composition, S355J2W STEEL has a better weldability compared to respective steels produced according to EN 10025-5. COR-TEN B is a weathering steel and was developed to avoid having to paint steel for protection. Our S355J2W+N achieves this by forming a protective rust-coloured oxide layer on its surface. Its alloying with copper and chromium ensure the formation of a firmly adhering protective layer of ‘rust’ which delivers a particular aesthetic appearance and weathering performance. COR-TEN STEEL is not rustproof in itself. ASTM A588 GRADE A steel plates do not require them to be painted to be protected from tarnishing. The corrosion impeding impact of the defensive layer is delivered by the specific appropriation and centralization of alloying components in it. The layer ensuring the surface creates and recovers persistently when subjected to the impact of the climate. At the end of the day, the steel is permitted to rust keeping in mind the end goal to structure the "defensive" covering. S355JOW weather-resistant structural steel is used for instance in steel constructions like bridges and buildings. This steel is used for various types of welded, bolted and riveted constructions e.g. steel frame structures, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicles and equipment constructions.
